THE DOOMTREE BLOWOUT!!!
On December the 10th, 2005, we are pleased to present the Doomtree Blowout at the Varsity Theater. So what the hell is that? Well, let’s break it down:
THE MUSIC: An entire night featuring every member of the Doomtree collective. Once it starts, it doesn’t stop. From the DJs to the emcees to the producers, each twist and turn is being planned for maximum effect. But don’t think there won’t be surprises. Aside from special guests, new songs, and things we’re keeping to ourselves for the moment, you can expect Doomtree’s signature seat-of-the-pants stuff. Who knows what’s really going to go down? Not us, that’s for sure. We haven’t done anything like this since over two years ago at the Dinkytowner, and those shows were some of the coolest. The Doomtree Blowout is going to be on some other shit though. Guaranteed.
THE VISUALS: KHS, a collective of some of the area’s best artists and designers, will be on-stage all evening. They’ll be installing a massive wheat paste mural illustrating the music as it happens. What? It’s gonna be unlike anything you, or we, have ever seen. And, as if it was even necessary, you can also expect original video work, an official music video premiere, and lighting/projection stuff that’ll blast your socks right through your shoes.
THE VENUE: The newly-restored Varsity Theater (varsitytheater.org) is the perfect setting for an event like this. It’s one of the most beautiful and historic venues in the Twin Cities. The space and staff present an atmosphere unlike any other club in town. If you’ve never been there, it’s hard to explain. If you have been there, you know what I’m talking about.
THE EXTRAS: To sprinkle a little more magic on the night, we’ll be doing sweet giveaways, featuring local breakers, and presenting a few other surprises that we’re not quite ready to divulge.
THE VERDICT: This is a night you won’t want to miss. We are doing everything in our power to insure that it’ll be the greatest, most extravagent, and all around hugest Doomtree show you’ve ever seen. And hopefully one of the best shows this year in general. It’s never happened before, and who knows when it will ever happen again?
So that’s that. We’ll see you on the tenth.
Oh, and if you thought this update would concern upcoming tour dates, sorry. Don’t be upset though; an announcement is forthcoming. One thing at a time, homie. One thing at a time.
