The world don’t stop when our boys ain’t home, just sos you knows. Doomtree is steady holding it down on the home front, and there are some seriously hot shows coming up. (Check the shows page, though, for updates on P.O.S ruining in-store performances.)
This Friday (the 10th) Dessa will be playing at the Cabooze. This one’s gonna be special, as Dessa will be backed by Big Trouble, aka Heiruspecs’ (expletive deleted) backbone (Sean McP, Peter Legs), plus big-little bro Steve McP and Traditional Meth-Head Josh P. But that’s not all! If you call in the next ten minutes, we’ll throw in Miri Ben-Ari’s worst nightmare Jessy Greene, Joanna James, and a little Cease Weezy & Bamf the Butcher for good measure. Huge. Our man Omaur Bliss—as well as Salva Me and the Gruves—will kick off the show. Dancing and shit! $8. 18+. 8:30 doors.
On Saturday night (the 11th), Doomtree shares a communal hi-five with Interlock at the Whole Music Club in the U of M’s Coffman Union. Dessa, Cecil, Mike, Marshall, and Servo will all be in the house. Black Blondie, I.L.I.C.I.T, and Twisted Linguistics will all be in the house. Holy word. $5 for U of M students / $7 general. 18+. 6:30.
Earlier that day, Dessa and Marshall will hit Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. Gustavus Adolphus, aka The Lion of the North, is widely regarded as one of Swedens greatest kings. It so happens that Marshall’s lineage has been traced back to the 17th century, when his great-great-great-great-great-great-grandpa was Adolphus’ left-hand-man. As they rode into battle, gramps Larada shared a horse with the king, wielding a broad-sword to the left while shielding attacks from the right. Together, they were kind of like a meat cleaver tied to a shotgun. This Saturday marks Marshall’s first trip to the king’s namesake institution, where he will play left-hand-man to a Puerto Rican lady rapper. The circle closes Saturday. The Circle of life.
