HOLY CRAZY NEWS DAY! There is a ton of stuff going on today so I’m just gonna go ahead and jump right into it.
P.O.S just premiered his brand new video for “Fuck Your Stuff” over at Pitchfork.tv this morning! If you’ve caught us live in the past year or two you’ve definitely heard this monster of a song (it’s the “scuffin up your Nikes” one), and I’m thrilled that the studio version is finally out in the world (the single is available on iTunes right HERE). Heat knocker for sure. Produced by yours truly and 100% LAVA BANGER approved. The video was directed by the undeniable force that is Isaac Gale and David Jensen, and features crazy huge fires, BMW destruction, and a ton of our good friends rocking blurred out 90s rap video t-shirts. Click the video below and WATCH IT!

Finally, to round out this completely nutz post, we’ve got the brand new free mixtape from our ultimate homies Marijuana Deathsquads. It’s called TAMPER.DISABLE.DESTROY and it is totally bonkers. Compiled by Ryan Olson (GAYNGS, Polica, MDS) and featuring nearly 50 collaborators including Bon Iver, Polica, Solid Gold, Astronautalis, Har Mar Superstar, F. Stokes, and our very own Mike Mictlan, Sims, Cecil Otter, P.O.S, and me. You kinda gotta just hear it to have any idea of what this thing is about, but here is the press release with some more details on how this all came to be:
“The album, ‘Tamper, Disable, Destroy’ is a small selection from a vast library of freestyles Ryan Olson accumulated at after parties in his Minneapolis studio, and late nights during a session at the infamous Wisconsin studio, April Base. The mixtape successfully blends the eclectic electronic sound Deathsquads have become known for, with pure, uninhibited, Rap.
During the 2 week session at April Base, in September of 2011, 6-8 different Minneapolitans would rotate through each day, each making the two hour drive to the studio, all recruited to play synths, lay drum beats, rip guitar solos, or whatever Olson needed when assembling what will be the band’s 2nd full length album (slated for release early next year). When nights turned to mornings, and the instruments were put down, Olson would put a mic in front of anyone and demand the best rap verse ever. In his words, “Catch rappers when their guard is least up, No frontin/All frontin.”
After returning from Wisconsin, Olson kept amassing verses over random Deathsquads B-Sides and building songs from beats/boom-baps from beatmakers like Lazerbeak, 2% Muck, and Gonzobean. After many more late night editing sessions, the album was decided to be done and released about a week after….Today.”
So yeah, definitely click the credits page below to download the album. I’ve included the first single in a Soundcloud player below as well in case your computer is running super low on space or you hate the idea of owning anything.
OK, that concludes possibly the biggest news post of the year. I’ll leave you with the same Video Bonus Jam from the top in case you forgot to click it the first time.
Hope you all have a wonderful week. If you live near the Twin Cities we’ve already got your Saturday all planned out. Sims and I will be playing the Hip Hop Harambee Block Party with Talib Kweli, Audio Perm, and a million others in the afternoon (tickets HERE), and Dessa has her sold out lipstick launch show at Icehouse that evening. Hopefully we’ll see some of you out. If not, next Tuesday for sure!
