OH. MAN. The day has finally come to launch the new Doomtree crew album, All Hands, out into the world for all to enjoy! We’ve been waiting a long time for this moment. Happy All Hands Day!!!!!
To celebrate this enormous occasion, we’ll be running all over Minneapolis all day long to hang with the people and hand out hi-fives. We’re kicking things off at GlamDoll Donuts at 10:00am today. They’ve made some very special custom All Hands pastries for the occasion. Check this photo out for proof, then come hang with us and try your very own Doomtree donut.
At noon we’ll be heading over to Muddy Waters for our first pint of Surly Doomtree and a little album christening party. People are always breaking bottles over their fancy ships when they set sail for the first time, so we’re gonna do the same for this album. Except it will probably be a bottle of Cook’s paired with a pepperoni pizza instead of Ace of Spades and caviar. Either way, it’s gonna rule. Come pop bottles. Also, the first 24 people to order a Surly Doomtree will get it served in a Surly Doomtree pint glass that they’ll get to take home!
UPDATE: We just announced our next Minneapolis show! Wednesday, February 25th at First Avenue Mainroom! Tickets are on sale tomorrow at noon. We’ll have 100 tickets available at The Depot Tavern while we’re there today at 4pm! See you then.
At 2:00pmCST we’ll all be taking part in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) Session on THE INTERNET. This is open to the entire world, because that’s how the internet works. If you’ve got any questions for us, just log onto Reddit right HERE and fire away.
At 4:00 we’ll be at The Depot (right next to First Ave) for our second (and probably third) pint of Surly Doomtree, plus a very special surprise. Trust me, you’re gonna want to be here at 4:00 if you’re anywhere nearby. You can also watch me eat about three helpings of those cajun cheese curds. Should be glorious. UPDATE: We just announced our next Minneapolis show! Wednesday, February 25th at First Avenue! We’ll have the first 100 tickets available while we’re there.
At 6:00 come over to the Electric Fetus in Minneapolis to hang out and get your copy of All Hands signed by the whole crew (except Papes who is stranded out in the NYC blizzard still, BOOOOOOOO weather). The Fetus is a record store institution in this part of the world, and we’re super pumped to partner up with them for this signing. They’ll have tons of other Doomtree releases on hand as well if you’re looking to spruce up your collection.
Lastly, we’ll be ending the big day at the brand new Surly taproom! Love this place. They’re going to have tons of Surly Doomtree on hand (plus their awesome new food menu), and we’ll be cheers-ing the night away at the sweet new brewery. Hope to see you there!
On Thursday we’ll be heading up to Duluth to play our very first crew show since the release of All Hands. Expect a ton of new music mixed in with some classic old jams. Our homies Sean Anonymous and deM atlaS will be opening up the show, so this is definitely not one to be missed. Highly worth the drive if you’ve got it in you. Grab tickets and more sweet deetz right HERE. JUST ANNOUNCED: The following day we’ll be hitting up the Duluth Electric Fetus for another quick meet and greet and album signing event. Stop by at noon on Friday and eat/drink your hangover away thanks to some free pizza and coffee from Pizza Luce and Duluth Coffee Company. Should be a blast.
Don’t forget that the official All Hands Tour kicks off next Wednesday in Columbia, MO. The dudes will be making their way down to Texas and across the South before hitting the East Coast and heading back home through the Midwest on Leg 1. Tons of details and ticket info right HERE. A lot of these shows are already moving fast, so make sure you grab your tix before they’re gone.
Leg 2 sees the guys heading through the mountains and out West before driving down the coast and swinging through the Southwest, all on their way to the final destination: SXSW!!! More details on that coming much sooner than later. For now, check out ticket info and details to Leg 2 of the All Hands Tour right HERE.
OK, I’ve got a couple very special Bonus Jams before I go start celebrating. Last week Dessa premiered her super awesome video for Parts of Speech closer “Sound the Bells.” Check out what Public Radio International had to say about the shoot and the making of the video right HERE, and watch the beautiful underwater clip directed by Daniel Cummings below.
NPR just premiered a feature on Doomtree by way of their excellent “All Things Considered” program. Check out this seven minute interview detailing the entire All Hands recording process and “Duck, Duck, Gray Duck” phenomenon right HERE (or by clicking the player below).
Alright, I gotta start picking the crew up for All Hands Day. I hope we see a ton of you out and about today, and even more of you on the Reddit AMA thing at 2:00pmCST. I really can’t say thank you enough for all of the tremendous support you’ve shown to this crew and this album already. It’s been three years of pretty insane hard work to get to this point, and I’m overjoyed to know that it’s finally available for everyone to check out. Let us know what you think and help us spread the word about All Hands if you get a second. I hope you all have a truly wonderful week, and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for another round of TWL. Happy All Hands Day!!!
