BIG TYME SHOW ALERT: Sims just announced a super awesome headlining set at Icehouse in Minneapolis on June 5th! WHOA. Check this out:
This will actually be Sims’ first headlining club show since the release of Field Notes last September. Those Hilltop Hoods and Doomtree tours kept him on the road for the better part of six months, so he will definitely be tour-tested for this special intimate hometown show. Extremely excited that he’s bringing the homies DJ Fundo and Milo along for the ride too. For those that might not know, Milo is a member of the legendary Hellfyre Club (along with Open Mike Eagle, Busdriver, Nocando, and several others), and it completely rules that he’ll be coming out to play this show. Check out a couple video links from Milo below. Tickets for this sweet show will go on sale this Friday morning and you can grab them right HERE.
In more upcoming show news, our very own Mike Mictlan will be performing next Wednesday, April 22nd at the Nomad World Pub for MC Longshot’s CD release show. This should be a great night celebrating Longhsot’s new #FTP project, as well as a chance to check out a ton of great HELLA FRREAL cuts. Check out more details below, and grab Shot’s #FTP album right HERE. Check out the lead single underneath the flyer for a taste of what he’s been working on.

Dessa’s brief return home between tours is almost over. She’ll be packing up her bags and heading overseas with Aby Wolf this weekend to gear up for her first headlining European tour. Check out all the dates and cities below and grab tickets and more info right HERE. Things kick off April 22nd with two sold-out London shows.
BREAKING DESSA TOUR NEWS: A new show was just added in Milan, Italy on May 9th. Check out the flyer below for all the details.
And for those of you that followed last week’s photoshop challenge (taken from the image of Dessa holding A GOAT on tour), you are in for a serious treat. Our good friend and light guy extraordinaire, Arlo, heard my cries and created this new “Goat Wearing A Hat” meme, complete with an awesome goat pun at the end. Click the player below and bear witness to greatness. You are all very welcome. Thanks Arlo!
Speaking of tours (SEGUE!!!), we’ve got a couple new Doomtree items up on the Webstore left over from the All Hands Tour. Here’s the appropriately titled “Tour Shirt”, with images from Q+A, lyrics from “80 on 80,” and layout by Andy Lund. The back of the shirt lists every single city and date from the US tour and makes for a pretty sweet collector’s item. These won’t be pressed again, so grab one while you still can right HERE.
And here’s the grey version of the “All Hands Shirt”. After over a decade of solely printing black t-shirts, we finally decided to live a little and switch things up. GENIUS! Grab yours right HERE. Drawing by Taylor Dees and lettering by Emmanuel Mauleón.
Now for a couple of quick Bonus Jams. I’ve gotta admit, I’ve never been a huge Chance the Rapper fan in the past. I know everyone loves him and I probably never gave Acid Rap much of a shot, but it’s just not ever really been my thing. This new song he just released with Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment has definitely got my attention though. Yes, the one-take video is extremely well put together, but this song also just plain rules and has been stuck in my head all week. Check it out below.
I knew they fully had me about halfway through the track when it drops into an interpolation of “It’s Gonna Rain,” one of the greatest gospel songs OF ALL TIME. Which then reminded me of Grace & Glory, one of the greatest gospel groups OF ALL TIME. Click the player below for Grace & Glory’s excellent version of “It’s Gonna Rain” from their insanely classic Inspired album. Little known fact: This was the album the wifepiece and I listened to on our way to the hospital to have the TWINZ…
…AND SPEAKING OF THE TWINZ (I think the Segue Streak scoreboard just exploded), I’ll leave you with a couple Bonus Baby Pics before calling it. Our Party of Five had some especially wild times this past week. Here’s Lou at that “Eureka!” moment when you finally discover how to unroll every single tube of toilet paper in the house. Not sure I’ve ever seen him so happy. I imagine this will make for some pretty comfortable bedding in the cardboard box that he currently lives in.
And here’s the one and only Crab Man Cam looking like a bonafide angsty teen. Something tells me things will only get crabbier from here on out. They grow up so fast.
Here are the dudes back in their favorite “LOUtenant Lou and CAMoflauge Cam” jammies, slowly learning the delicate nuances between playing with each other and physically assaulting one another. About 30 seconds after this picture was taken everyone was in tears, but it’s nice to have at least captured this brief moment in time when everything was peaceful and serene.
Gardening season is coming up and Brittany’s mom has been building these cool box gardens in preparation for Spring planting. With all the city squirrels and crazy birds in the neighborhood, somebody was gonna have to keep an eye on things and protect the future crops. Glad to see these young men stepping up to the plate and pitching in a bit around the house.
Can’t forget about Penny. Her mom took her to Frozen On Ice over the weekend and P may never be the same. It sounds like this look of astonishment and wonder was plastered over her face for the entire 90 minute program. GAME CHANGER.
We took Penny to the Science Museum on Saturday and I got rewarded with an extremely rare peck after buying her all of the sweets at the cafeteria. Hey, sometimes you really do have to buy their affection. And no, I’m not giving the camera the finger. Not intentionally at least.
Alright, that does it for real. I hope you all have a wonderful week. Don’t forget to stay on the lookout for this new “Beastface” music video dropping any day now. See you next Tuesday!
