Welcome back to another Tuesdays With Lazerbeak. BEST NEWS! We just made the big time announcement that Speedy Ortiz will be opening up our East Coast club shows next month in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Portland (Maine), and DC. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to be playing shows with these guys. Easily one of my favorite bands out there right now. Check out the dates and venues below. YES!
So that makes it Speedy Ortiz on the East Coast and Astronautalis on the West Coast. Good lord those are some stacked lineups. Feeling really fortunate (dare I say #blessed) to have such great artists along on the Off in the Deep Tour. Full coastal dates listed below.
And while we’re at it, here’s a list of every Doomtree show that’s currently been announced up to this point. Things are definitely about to start ramping up for us. Check out all the details and ticket info for every show right HERE. Can’t wait to see a ton of you out at all of these!
This weekend in Denver kicks off our first of three Riot Fest appearances this Fall, and we’re flying into town a day early to kick things off with an official Riot Fest After Show at the Summit Music Hall! Super stoked that Cayetana and Input + Broken are on the bill too. Should be an awesome night. Grab your tickets HERE.
Then on Sunday you can catch us at Riot Fest Denver on the Riot Stage from 2:45 -3:30, right before Andrew WK and GZA. This is going to seriously be the best. Click right HERE to grab tickets and check out the full lineup and schedule for the entire weekend.
I know I probably don’t need to remind you at this point, but don’t forget about the big Doomtree Zoo show coming up on October 3rd in St. Paul, MN. Details below. We should have another funny We’re Working Hard video for you next week, shot right in the ballpark. Tickets and tons more info on the whole event are available right HERE.
We’ve been getting the word out pretty hard about the Zoo over the last few weeks, but we could still use some more Doomtree street teamers who are down to plaster the Twin Cities with flyers and posters, as well as flyer upcoming shows in town. If you’re interested please contact [email protected]. We will make it worth your while, promise.
Now for some Bonus Jams! I’ve been listening to this new Wondaland Records sampler pretty non-stop since it came out, and I gotta say that this thing totally slays. Not sure if it’s just the end-of-summer vibes or how well the whole thing is produced, but I’m all in with this one. Plus I always love to root for crews and collectives too, so it’s kind of a no brainer for me. I’m sure you’ve heard “Classic Man” and “Yoga” a million times by this point, but the deep cuts on this thing are really where it’s at (unfortunately I couldn’t find them on YouTube, so you’re stuck with the singles). I highly recommend checking out the tracks by Roman GianArther and Deep Cotton. Soooooo good. It’s almost like if the label decided they would sign acts that could each tackle a different era of awesome Prince music. Anyways, if you’re looking for a good mini-album that you can enjoy from start and finish in the time it takes you to drive to work, this Wondaland Presents: The Eephus joint is the way to go. Enjoy!
And here’s a couple of Speedy Ortiz Bonus Jams because I am still over the moon that they’re joining us for those four East Coast dates. Can’t tell you how many times I listened to that “No Below” song last year. Might’ve been song of the year for me actually. If you live out East you gotta come and check these guys out.
I’ll leave you with some Bonus Baby Pics to make up for missing them last week. Not sure how much longer I can get away with calling these baby pics though, as Penny officially starts preschool tomorrow! So crazy. We’ve got orientation today and then it all begins, bus rides and all. Can’t wait to see her crush it so hard at school, and it’s blowing my mind how fast she’s growing up. Young Nelpz!
We rented a cabin this past weekend with my folks, sister, and brother-in-law as a way to cap off the end of summer, and it was the best. Here’s Penny working on her favorite past time: Rock throwing. Bonus points for standing on a big rock while throwing slightly smaller rocks onto other rocks just below the surface. Serious trifecta.
Lou and Cam got in the mix too. Here’s Crab Man Cam bossing everyone around with his plastic toy shovel. This dude is actually shedding his Crab Man mystique these days, so much so that we’ve started calling him Cambo instead (like Rambo, that works right?).
Here’s Laid Back Lou after rolling around in the sand for an hour or so (and more than likely eating some of it). Nice one.
And here’s a couple more smiles from back at the homefront. These dudes are running around like crazy and turning into real live happy boys. Love them tons.
Alright, that should do it for this post! Hope you all have a great week, and I’m looking forward to seeing a bunch of you out in Denver on Saturday and Sunday. If not, next Tuesday it is. Have good one!
