Welcome back to an action-packed edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak! Sims, Ander Other, Makr, and the Air Credits dudes have recharged their batteries, replaced all of their stolen gear (thank you a million again to everyone who helped out with that), and tightened up their sets. They’re all ready to head out West and kick off the second leg of the More Than Ever Tour. Everything starts in Denver this Thursday (12/1), and continues in Seattle on Friday (12/2), and Portland on Saturday (12/3). Check out the full run of dates below and grab your tickets right HERE. Don’t miss it!
In addition to those dates, Sims has just announced a new batch of weekend shows taking place in 2017! He’ll be hitting Davenport, St. Louis, Lutsen, Sioux Falls, Omaha, Duluth, Fargo, and Montreal in the coming year and tickets to all dates will go on sale this Friday. Make sure to head over HERE to grab them at the end of the week. PUMPED!
Of course between Leg Two and these newly announced dates Sims will be stopping back in Minneapolis for his largest headlining show to date at the legendary First Avenue Mainroom on Friday, January 6th. He’s bringing an all star cast with him too. Air Credits, Webster X, and Nazeem & Spencer Joles will all be performing before Sims tears the house down. This is going to be the rap party to end all rap parties. Make sure you clear your calendar and grab your tickets right HERE.
And now here’s a bonus pic of Sims hanging out with Astronautalis and Jordon while back in the Twin Cities this past week because it’s the best.
Now for a big P.O.S album update! As you may have already heard, we are getting dangerously close to wrapping up his new full-length. I’ve been in at Microphonic Mastering the past week working with Bruce Templeton and Stef to get this thing all locked up an ready to go. All I can say at this point is this record COMPLETELY SLAYS EVERYTHING. It’s sounding so good. Here’s proof of how close we are. If you ever had any doubt, CDs are still the best. Gotta do the car test to make sure everything is hitting exactly as it should. More soon!
While you wait for more album details, why not grab your tickets to the upcoming P.O.S tour and ensure that you’ll be one of the first to hear all the new material live? Check out the dates below and grab your tickets right HERE.
In Dessa news, the long-awaited Hamilton Mixtape is finally dropping this Friday (12/2) and Dessa has landed a solo track amongst some of the biggest names in pop music. SO EXCITING. I’m selfishly also insanely pumped because I helped produce her conrtibution “Congratulations” and this will be my first major label placement. Check out the cover art and the entire tracklist below, and if you’re a fan of Hamilton, make sure to grab the album right HERE. Big things popping.
Alright, that does it for your Doomtree-related news this week so let’s dive right into some Bonus Jams. My favorite band of all time (and the greatest rock band of this century), The Killers, have finally released their long-awaited Christmas singles collection. For the last 10 years these guys have been dropping a Christmas-themed song every December with all proceeds going to the (RED) charity. Now they’ve compiled everything in one place and I couldn’t be more excited. Check out Don’t Waste Your Wishes below and get pumped for the holiday season.

Speaking of Christmas songs (SEGUE STREAK), our good friends Trampled By Turtles just dropped off an awesome cover on John Prine’s classic “Christmas In Prison.” Check it out below. Thinking I might have to make a new Lazerbeak Christmix playlist with all this great new music coming out.

Local heroes Hippo Campus continue to build buzz for their highly-anticipated 2017 full-length. “Boyish” was an absolute smash and they’ve just released second single “Monsoon” to continue the push. Check it out below. Everything I’ve heard off of this album indicates that it is going to be completely bonkers. Really pumped for these guys.

I’ve been bumping this new GoldLink single produced by Kaytranada all week. It’s got a real nice bounce to it. Check out “Fall In Love” below.

By this point I’m sure you haven’t been able to escape the promotional rollout for the new Weeknd album. I haven’t had the time to give it a quality listen all the way through, but I couldn’t be more excited for Minneapolis producers Bobby Raps and Psymun who both landed production and guest musician credits on it. HUGE LOOKS. Way to go dudes.
The Weeknd – Starboy
Hodgy from Odd Future is gearing up to release a new solo album and I’m way into this new “Barbell” single and video. Check it out.
Hodgy – “Barbell”
Rapsody has been absolutely crushing the guest feature game for years now (see the last Kendrick and Anderson .PAAK albums especially) and she just dropped off an excellent brand new solo project of her own. Check out title track “Crown” below. Can’t wait to check out this whole thing. One of my favorite rappers out right now. Bars for days.

And lastly, here’s a brand new album from upcoming Twin Cities artist The Anatomy Of… I got tipped off to this project by Jimmy the Doomtree Intern, and I’m really feeling everything I’ve heard so far. The dudes will be putting on a release show tonight (11/29) at the Schmidt Artist Lofts in St. Paul if you’re in the area (details HERE). Check out the full album below and grab it right HERE.

BAM! That’s it for this week’s Bonus Jams. I’ll leave you with a couple Bonus Baby Pics before I head out. My children continue to perfect their Fifth Harmony Tribute Band stage show routine. They’ve mastered the hits and have now turned their sites on the deep cuts. Here’s a glimpse of what every single night looks like at my house.
Here’s Penny pushing the creative boundaries of post-millenial laziness after a massive Thanksgiving feast at my mom’s house. Don’t know whether to be proud or ashamed.
We had a great long weekend with friends and family, and we even got to get Penny back together with her BFF Aniyah. The girls decorated the tree like a couple of total bawses. Here they are flexing after hanging the final lights. Cool face, Penny.
Alright, I’m in LA all week so I gotta head out to meetings now. I hope you all have a wonderful week and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday with more P.O.S news. Please pray to the godz that the Vikings can pull off a victory against the unstoppable Cowboys on Thursday. That would be so tight.
