Welcome back to another edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak! The P.O.S Chill, dummy Tour marches on. Stef, Ander, and Tony just finished up Leg 1 and are back home recharging their batteries before heading out on the West Coast portion next week. Here’s a few pics from the road, including a very peculiar shot of what appears to be Tony being sprayed with a perfume bottle of whisky on top of the bar.
Very strange indeed. Leg 2 of the Chill, dummy Tour starts in California next week and this time around Stef will have DJ Fundo and our good friend Sean Anonymous along for the ride. Check out all the dates from Leg 2 below and grab your tickets HERE.
Oh and speaking of P.O.S (SEGUE STREAK), he just recently added a guest verse to a new song by rapper Infidelix. Check out “Six Days Six Nights” below.

UPDATE: In other P.O.S news, he will doing a special Reddit Ask Me Anything tomorrow (Wed 9/27) at 5pm EST. Go right HERE to ask questions and get scoop directly from the source.
In other show news, I’m super pumped to announce that Mixed Blood Majority, my side project with Crescent Moon of Kill The Vultures and Joe Horton of No Bird Sing, has a new date lined up on the books. We’ll be making a rare appearance at the first annual Brew-N-Stew festival in South Minneapolis on October 14th. Great local lineup, tons of great local food and beer, and admission is 100% FREE.99. What more could you possibly want? Check out the details below and learn more right HERE.
I’ve been in the studio with Dessa quite a bit lately as she’s putting the finishing touches on the tracking of her next album. Lots of progress has been made in the last few months and we’re rapidly approaching the mixing stage in a few weeks. I am the absolute worst at grabbing good studio shots, but here’s a pic of Andy Thompson’s basement studio that the three of us have been putting in some long hours at. I’ll be sure to keep you updated as we get closer to sharing some music.
In the meantime you can catch Dessa and her new touring outfit on a run of East Coast shows this November. She’ll be hitting Manhattan (SOLD OUT), Philly, DC, Brooklyn, Boston, Ann Arbor, and Chicago this time around. Check out the full list of dates below and grab your tickets HERE.
Once that run winds down Dessa will be headed home for the big full-crew Doomtree show at The Palace in St. Paul, MN on November 22nd. This is the first hometown crew show that we’ve played in over 16 months and it is guaranteed to be a doozy. Tickets have been flying this past week, so I’d recommend snatching yours up now before it’s too late right HERE.
Now for a special celebration of the nine-year anniversary of Hand Over Fist, the debut collaborative album from Mike Mictlan and myself that Doomtree released way back in 2008 following the releases of the self-titled Doomtree album and Cecil Otter’s Rebel Yellow.
Hard to believe this thing is nearing the decade mark already. I have some of the fondest memories from the process of creating and releasing this album. It was the very first project that I produced entirely and oversaw executive production on, and I learned a TON. A lot of these songs were the product of me mailing beat cassettes from Minneapolis to Los Angeles (I still didn’t have a CD burner or Pro Tools and the internet hadn’t caught up yet – man I sound old) before Mike eventually moved up here. Crazy times. I’ll forever have a very special place in my heart for this one. If you came on board after this was released or just haven’t revisited in forever like myself, here’s a few links below to check it out, including an amazing promo video shot in the backyard hot tub at my old house. Nice work, Isaac. Enjoy.

And if you really want to go deep, you can also check out the instrumentals from the album right HERE. These beats were basically what led me to coin the phrase “LAVA BANGERS” in the first place. The more you know.
Man, crazy trip down memory lane. On that note, let’s get into some recent Bonus Jams that I’ve been super feeling as of late. My favorite band of all time and what I truly believe is the Greatest American Rock Band Of This Century just released their fifth studio album last Friday. I love The Killers so much and I think it will probably be hard for me to ever not like one of their records, but I gotta say that on first listen I wasn’t very impressed with this one. It often takes me a few spins through an album to fully warm up to it though, so by the second listen in the car I was fully on board. Here’s a current standout.
The Killers – “Rut”
NAO just dropped an awesome loosie single and announced she’s back in the studio working on her next album. Her most recent was one of my favs from last year and I can’t wait to hear what she’s up to next. This “Nostalgia” track does not disappoint in the slightest.
NAO – “Nostalgia”
Young Thug dropped a short EP with producer Carnage that I’m really into. Check out “Don’t Call Me” below.

If you haven’t checked out that new Velvet Negroni album yet you are absolutely slipping. So good. Check out the new vizualz for “Spiceworld” below and grab the record right HERE.
Velvet Negroni – “Spiceworld”
This new Hiss Golden Messenger album totally took me by surprise yesterday and I can’t stop listening. This is some really incredible, masterful stuff right here. The production and musicianship is next level. I became an instant fan and can’t recommend this enough.
Hiss Golden Messenger – “Domino (Time Will Tell)”
I finally checked out that Twin Peaks band too (I’m very late, I know). Definitely feeling a lot of the tracks on Down In Heaven and excited to see where they take the sound next. Check out “Wanted You” below.
Twin Peaks – “Wanted You”
That new Randy Newman album continues to amaze. And not just the totally over-the-top circus music of the first half of it either. There are some really touching songs towards the end that are bound to leave you a little teary eyed. Check out “She Chose Me” below.
Randy Newman – “She Chose Me”
Very pumped to hear two new tunes from Minneapolis band Louis. They’ve been slowly releasing new joints all year and these are the best ones yet. Check out “Timing” and “Carry On” below and get stoked for the upcoming album.
Louis – “Timing / Carry On”
BAM! That’s it for Bonus Jams this week. I’ll leave you with a few Bonus Baby Pics before heading back to the studio. Our little Party of Five had quite the long weekend getaway to Chicago for my brother-in-law’s wedding. Young Nelpz was the flower girl for the second time in a year and she totally crushed it once again. Here she is showing off her fancy duds.
Here she is the night before in the hotel room posted up with her Naked Barbie Girl Squad.
And here she is imitating her father while pretending to drive the car. She’s got jokes.
I don’t know if I was just being naive or hopeful, but I definitely underestimated the amount of work it was going to be to haul three kids five and under around on a big roadtrip like this. Definitely a test, but in the end everyone survived and there was no blood spilled. This five minutes of zen was easily the most peaceful part of the five days.
We got home Sunday night and Lou immediately started his ECSE school the next morning. I am so insanely proud of this guy for getting on the bus like a champ and knocking it out. Penny learned and grew so much in the two years she was a part of this program and I can’t wait to watch Lou blossom as well. Exciting times. Shouts to my mom for the pictures and the bus cake that she’s been making ever since I started kindergarten. So great. Way to go, Lou!
Alright, that’s a wrap for this post! I hope you all have an awesome week and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for another round of TWL.
