Welcome back to another jam-packed edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak! This past weekend Shredders (P.O.S, Sims, Paper Tiger, and myself) had the extreme pleasure of opening up for the mighty Run The Jewels at Go Media’s annual Snow Show. It was an absolutely epic night and a total honor to be a part of. Here’s a sweet shot that Dave Westhed took from the audience to give you an idea of the scope of this craziness. Huge shouts to Mr. Peter Parker and the whole team at Go 95 for having us.
Such a fun night. So pumped to be taking this Shredders show on the road at the top of next year. We’ll be playing all over the US and Canada throughout January and February with our buddy Astronautalis opening up. Check out all the cities and dates below and make sure to grab your tickets right HERE (Duluth and Columbus on sale at the end of the week!).
Also JUST ANNOUNCED: Shredders will be headed back to the Palace Theatre in St Paul on January 20th for Red Bull’s crazy Crashed Ice afterparty. We’ll be playing main support to Paper Diamond. Check out all the details below. Tickets on sale this Friday right HERE.
Speaking of Shredders (SEGUE!!!), we’ve got a brand new episode of our weekly “Does It Shred?” VR mini-podcast to share with you today. This week we tackle Warped Tour and Sims shares some highlights from grinding it out on the road way back in the day. Shouts to Adam Dunn as always for filming this thing and making it so vizually nutz.

In Dessa news, we have officially wrapped her next full-length album (!!!!!). Here’s a shot of her and I at Microphonic Mastering last week putting the finishing touches on the audio with the ultimate Legend God Bruce Templeton.
And here are the tape marks that each of our chairs sit on in the mastering room in order to hear a more bass-heavy mix (me aka Lil Beak the BassGod) or a more treble-heavy mix (Dessa aka The Treblemaker). Wild stuff.
This is Dessa and I last night with producer/composer Andy Thompson (collectively known as #TRIPLETHREAT) celebrating the completion of the album and sorting out writing credits in the middle of a snowstorm. Can’t wait to share this music!
Tons more news about the album will be coming much sooner than later, so definitely stay tuned. In the meantime you can check out this little mini-feature that Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine did on Dessa for their ongoing My North series highlighting notable Minnesota personalities.
My North: Dessa
Last week it was announced that Dessa will be part of a star-studded music showcase taking place here in Downtown Minneapolis the week leading up to the Super Bowl, put together by the hometown Super Bowl Committee and LEGENDARY producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. More details will be announced soon, but you can read about the initial press release right HERE. So cool.

Alright, that does it for Doomtree-related news this week. It’s been a little bit since I’ve done a Bonus Jams segment, so I’m gonna close out this post by highlighting some of the national and local music I’ve been bumping super hard as of late. First up is Australian duo Kllo. Big time shouts to Vance Wellenstein for putting me up on these guys. I can’t recommend their new Backwater album enough. This “Virtue” track is one of the best songs I’ve heard all year. SO GOOD.

POLIÇA and s t a r g a z e just released a brand new single from their upcoming collaborative album Music For The Long Emergency and it’s an absolute banger. You can read all about the song from Billboard’s premiere HERE and check out “Agree” below. So proud of this project.

OVO Sound’s own Roy Woods just dropped a new full-length and it absolutely crushes. He’s got a bit of a Weeknd vibe but for some reason I like this way more than that. “Little Bit Of Lovin” is an unstoppable dance anthem. Love this one.

Producer Lophiile keeps the hits coming with his latest single featuring Freddie Gibbs. The chemistry between these two is incredible. Really hope they continue to work together, I’d love to hear a whole album of this someday.

Minneapolis producer Su Na just released his new Coral Angels EP and it’s phenomenal, especially this awesome “Cycle” single. Check it out below and grab the EP right HERE. Highly recommended.

Continuing with the Local Bonus Jams theme, rapper Why Khaliq recently dropped his full-length project The Mustard Seed and it is very much worth checking out. Loving this “My Jam” track. Grab the whole thing right HERE.

The homie Tufawon released his new Self Care EP recently as well. Always been a big fan of Tufa from all the way back in the Illuminous 3 days, and he continues his run with this one. Check out the entire project below.

And lastly, here’s a new joint from local rapper Student 1. I have to admit that I’ve been sleeping on this guy a little bit, but this “Uneducated Freestyle” is a total slammer. Excited to check out his new EP too, which you can listen to right HERE.
