Oh man oh man, welcome to another edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak! I’m still flying high from Shredders’ big halftime performance at the Minnesota Timberwolves game last Friday night. Seriously a Top 5 Night of My Life. We’ll have video of the entire performance up next week, but for now check out all the behind the scenes shenanigans below. Huge shouts to the entire Timberwolves organization for treating us so nice and also for letting me throw t-shirts into the crowd. Dreams really do come true. I can’t wipe the smile from my face and I’m never taking off my custom jersey ever again.

I promise to eventually chill on posting @timberwolves @shredddders pics.
We’ve got some big shows coming up this Spring. Sims just announced he’ll be playing a rare solo headlining set for Modist Brewing’s 4th anniversary show. It all goes down on Saturday, April 18th and Sims will be joined by our good friends Sophia Eris, Green/Blue, and Mike 2600. Hell of a lineup. Check out all the deetz below and learn more right HERE.
And speaking of radical shows (SEGUE), only a few weeks later the entire Doomtree crew will descend upon the Twin Cities for two insanely epic nights of music. The May 1st show at First Avenue sold out right away, but there are still about 500 tickets remaining to the May 2nd show at Palace Theater. They’ve been steadily moving though, so make sure to grab yours now to ensure a spot at the party. CANNOT WAIT for these shows. Grab your tickets HERE.
In Dessa news, we’ve acquired a new stockpile of hardcover My Own Devices books and are running a special bookclub sale on them in case your club is looking for some new literature. For a limited time you can grab 6 or more hardcover copies for only $12.49 per book. That’s over 50% off the cover price!!! Check out the webstore HERE for more details.
Pretty light news front this week, so let’s jump right into the Bonus Jams. I’m loving the new Bad Bunny album on first blush and can’t wait to give it a few more listens. This “Pero Ya No” track has Song of the Summer written all over it.
Bad Bunny – “Pero Ya No”
You know I’m all in when it comes to new Drak. So pumped that he’s starting to heat up just in time for a summer release. This is going to rule.
Drake – “When To Say When / Chicago Freestyle”
Big time congrats to Swamp Dogg, Ryan Olson, Justin Vernon, John Prine and everyone else that worked on Swamps’ excellent new album. Check out the video for “Billy” below.
Swamp Dogg – “Billy”
Could not be more stoked for a new Phoebe Bridgers song. I love how chill this one is. Hoping it means there’s much more on the way.
Phoebe Bridgers – “Garden Song”
I’m waaaaaaay into this new Caribou album. So many different styles and genres mashed into one cohesive sound. I’ve been jamming this on headphones every night before bed and there’s tons of new ear candy revealed on every listen.
CARIBOU – “Ravi”
Big time shouts to my main man Paper Tiger for putting me up on UK production duo Prospa. This is classic dance music at its finest. Every single I’ve check out from them is complete fire, but this “Prayer” song definitely takes the cake.
Prospa – “Prayer”
Really digging the new Disclosure EP as well. Check out the title track below.
Disclosure – “Ecstasy”
Just discovered Lisbon-based producer/songwriter Bullion last week and cannot stop listening to his new We Had A Good Time EP. Check out the title track below. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Bullion – “We Had A Good Time”
Chromatics continue to tease out new singles this year. “Famous Monsters” has a crazy old Sonic Youth Kim Gordon spoken-word vibe to it that I’m a total sucker for. I love this band so much.
Chromatics – “Famous Monsters”
I gotta be honest, I never really checked out The Afghan Whigs music much in all of my indie rock days, but for whatever reason I am absolutely loving this new solo album from frontman Greg Dulli. It feels like a lost TV On The Radio album around the time of Dear Science. Check out the crazy video for “Pantomima” below.
Greg Dulli – “Pantomima”
Our dear friend and lead singer of Cloquet, J.Gundersen, just dropped a sweet new instrumental last week called “Diamond.” It’s one of my favorite beats that I’ve heard from him so far. Keep an eye out for him and Cloquet later this year. I’ve heard some new demos that have completely blown me away.
J.Gundersen – “Diamond”
Dua Saleh is back with an excellent new single. Check out “manOman” below.
Dua Saleh – “manOman”
My man Amit just put me up on Chattanooga-based spitter YGTUT and this is some of the best rap I’ve heard in years. Can’t wait for the new project to drop. This “Bootleggers” song is insane.
YGTUT – “Bootleggers”
Had the ultimate pleasure of seeing Chicago’s Roy Kinsey perform at Dessa’s sold-out First Ave show a few weeks back and have been bumping his latest album Kinsey: A Memoir nonstop ever since. Groundbreaking music out of The Chi. Check out the video for “FETISH” below and grab the whole project HERE. Album cover of the year.
Roy Kinsey – “FETISH”
I’m absolutely thrilled to say that our homie Metasota has returned after a bit of a musical hiatus. His new self-produced single “Wah Dit Iz” is a total banger. Good to have him back!
Metasota – “Wah Dit Iz”
Loving this new Trappistines cover of Peter Gabriel’s classic “In Your Eyes.” These guys dropped a phenomenal EP last year too which you can grab right HERE.
The Trappistines – “In Your Eyes”
Our buddy Mark Mallman just dropped the first single from his upcoming solo record and it’s a definite heat rock. Check out the very timely “Quarantined” below and get amped!
Mark Mallman – “Quarantined”
And lastly, I’ll leave you with an incredible video from Koo Koo Kanga Roo and THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS (!!!!). God that felt good to type out. Here’s “My Jam.” I love it.
Koo Koo Kanga Roo & Harlem Globetrotters – “My Jam”
BAM! That does it for the Bonus Jams. I hope you all have a truly wonderful week and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for another round of TWL!
