Whoooooboy, welcome back to an outrageously jam-packed edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak. There’s so much cool stuff to catch you up on, so let’s just dive right in. To kick things off we’ve got the unveiling of this super top secret project that Dessa and the Minnesota Orchestra have been scheming on for the past month. With the tremendous help of mixer/producer Andy Thompson and video editor Frank Merchlewitz, Dessa and a zillion members of our great state’s orchestra were able to piece together this live quarantine version of their monumental “Skeleton Key” collaboration. They even got vocalists Aby Wolf, Ashley DuBose, Cameron Kinghorn, and Matthew Santos in on the fun (make sure to look out for a cameo from yours truly and a few of my crazy kids too). Another great reminder that even when we’re apart we can still find creative ways to connect to our beatufiul. communities. Things like this make me so incredibly happy. Without further ado, I present you with “Skeleton Key” Lockdown Edition. I hope it brightens your day like it did mine!

I’m so excited to announce a brand new project I’ve been working on for the past year. Our good friend Ashley Gold (who’s worked with everyone from Dessa to Aby Wolf to Tommy Barbarella and Paper Tiger) is going to be releasing her excellent new solo EP Grown on June 5th. The entire project was produced by Joe Mabbott from the legendary Hideaway Studios and myself, and we’re so thrilled to release the title track first single today. You can check out “Grown” below or anywhere you stream music right HERE. It’s been a total blast collaborating with Ashley and Joe, and this is truly some of the funnest music I’ve ever worked on. Total pop and throwback R&B vibes everywhere, perfect for the start of your summer. Enjoy and please help us pass it around if you get a second. This is true self-released independent art and we could use any boost that we can get. Thanks for listening!

We’ve got a DOUBLE PREMIERE today, as we’ve also just released the final single from this upcoming Night Stone album. It’s called “Dreams Too” and features the dream team vocal duo of Lady Midnight and Sophia Eris. Both of these women created the vocal foundation for the entire album, so it’s fitting that we got them to collab together on this one. Check out the song below or wherever you listen to music right HERE. I really love this one so much.

And in case you missed it on Episode 4 of #DoomtreeTV, here’s the incredible live rendition of the Night Stone song “Echo Love” from Lady Midnight. This is how incredible her voice sounds with zero mixing or effect, just singing straight into a phone. The absolute best.

The full Night Stone album will officially be out in the world this Friday, May 15th, and I. CANNOT. WAIT. Shouts to all our Patreon people and physical pre-orderers who got the full thing a whole week early. If you’re still interested in copping the Deluxe Pre-Order we’e got a handful of bundles left. Check out the goods below and grab yours HERE. Huge shouts to my main man ICETEP, my better half in Night Stone. So excited for Friday!
And speaking of #DoomtreeTV (SEGUE), you can now check out Episode 4 in all of its wonderful quirkiness below. Last week’s episode was a full-on Shredders Takeover and it was a blast hosting it with my Shred Dog Milli Boys. So many crazy segments. I can’t tell you how much fun it’s been learning how to make a weird quarantine TV show from scratch. Really truly feels like when Doomtree first started way back in 2000 and we were all teaching each other how to make songs with zero clue as to what we were doing. I love it. Make sure to tune in to #DoomtreeTV every Friday at 8pm Central right HERE at doomtree.net/tv and hop into the YouTube chat to hang out with us LIVE while it’s premiering. See you there!
Doomtree TV – Episode 4
I recently sat down with Tyler Maas from the excellent My First Band podcast to talk about a million things in my musical history, including my very first band The Plastic Constellations. It was a joy to walk down memory lane and remember those early year, plus I even spill the beans on a new project that Jeff from TPC! and myself have been up to. Lots more news coming on that before the end of the month, but let’s just say it involves electric guitars for now. I’m pumped. Check out the entire interview right HERE.
Alright! That’s about all I can handle for one mega post. Make sure to bump those new Ashley Gold and Night Stone singles at max volume this week. I hope you all enjoy a bit of this upcoming nice weather too. Keep on staying safe, social distancing, and HANGING IN THERE. Have the best week ever and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for another edition of TWL!
