Welcome back to an extra special Tuesdays With Lazerbeak. This week marks the 10-year anniversary of Sims’ very first full-length album Lights Out Paris! To celebrate this momentous occasion we have just released the album on deluxe-edition vinyl for the first time ever (HERE), along with a special deluxe-edition digital album (right HERE). SO AWESOME!
Both the vinyl and digital versions come with newly remastered audio, full written lyrics, and nine digital bonus tracks, including Sims’ out-of-print 2004 False Hopes Four EP and four brand new remixes from original album producers Lazerbeak, Paper Tiger, MK Larada, and Joe Mabbott. Still can’t believe it’s been 10 years. As a young beatmaker, Lights Out Paris was just the second Doomtree-related full-length that I landed beats on, and it’s been a serious trip down memory lane going back to this thing in detail as we got it prepped for the deluxe-edition treatment. Whether you’ve been rocking with us since Day 1, or are just now discovering some of the early Doomtree back catalog, I can guarantee that you will get a kick out of revisiting this album. Now for a masssssssive Doomtree tour update. The dudes all made it safely over to London last Tuesday, and the first week of the All Hands Europe Tour is officially in the bag. Here’s Ander, Cecil, Papes, and Stef upon initial entry into the UK, sitting on what appear to be very stylish chairs made out of bedazzled jean jackets.
And here’s a pic from the merch booth that Ander shot during the first show in London. There were over 600 people in attendance between the two combined London shows. That is INSANE. From London it was on to the one-and-only Glastonbury Festival. Here are the guys getting ready to rock the Silver Hayes tent.
And here was the highlight of my day watching this all unfold from back home: Mike, Stef, and Papes each posted separate pictures with TRICKY!!! (the Legend God), who was headlining Doomtree’s stage that night. Turns out his daughter is actually a fan of the crew, and he was last spotted rocking a No Kings beanie. Cannot make this stuff up. The best!
So good. There are always a ton of surprise guests at Glastonbury every year, but after the guys got done playing they stumbled onto Patti Smith bringing out THE DALAI LAMA to address the crowd on his 80th birthday. Nice one. Again, you really cannot make this stuff up.
Here’s a mandatory tour pic of Ander Other fast asleep on an object that you would not expect one to easily fall asleep on. Always game for a challenge.
And here’s Papes and Sims after what I can imagine must have been a fairly early van call. Either that or they’re working out a modern day interpretation of those comedy/tragedy Greek theater masks.

And lastly, here’s a pic of the usual late night hotel check-in party that happens after a long day of driving. Kind of want Stef’s face to never stop doing this. Missing these dudes pretty bad right now.
So there you have it for a Week 1 Recap. The All Hands Europe tour continues on though! The guys play their last UK date in Birmingham tonight (Tuesday, tix HERE) before hopping a flight to mainland Europe and rocking Denmark’s massive Roskilde Festival on Thursday (tix HERE). Then it’s over to Germany for a show in Hamburg on Friday (tix HERE), the Netherlands on Saturday for WOO HAH! Festival with all the rappers in the world (tix HERE), and a club show in Berlin on Monday (tix HERE). And speaking of Doomtree (SEGUE!), The Onion’s AV Club just named All Hands one of the best albums of 2015 (so far)! We landed a spot in the very competitive Best Hip-Hop Album That Name-Drops WTF With Marc Maron category. Nailed it.
The good people at Baeble Music just made a video link available to our entire set at their SXSW day party this past March. Check out the little teaser video below and go HERE for the full half-hour performance. This show was definitely one of the SXSW highlights for me this year, mainly because we played right before X-Ambassadors, who ended up thoroughly blowing all of our minds.
And lastly, just a quick note to say how pumped we are about last week’s Supreme Court ruling on marriage equality. Love Wins FRREAL.
Now for a couple of random Bonus Jams that I’ve been bumping a ton lately. These are all from national artists who’s new albums have been in heavy rotation in the Camry this past month. You probably already know about how much I love Kacey Musgraves, and this new Pageant Material album does not disappoint. Already a serious contender for Album of the Year, and I’ve only heard it twice so far. Check out “Biscuits” below.
Nice weather always makes me want to hear a bit more country music than usual. The new Zac Brown Band album is totally insane (and not always in the best way), but this “Homegrown” single is up right there with the best stuff they’ve ever done in my opinion.
The new Jamie XX album has been growing on me quite a bit, mostly because of this “Good Times” song. I think there’s a decent Song of the Summer argument to be made for this one.
Another producer I’ve been listening to a bunch is this dude Knxwledge, who just dropped his HUD DREEMS album on Stones Throw not too long ago. Reminds me of some of the old cut and paste collage albums from people like Count Bass D and Madlib. All over the place in the best way possible. You can stream the entire thing below.

Really looking forward to checking out the new Vince Staples double LP that Def Jam just dropped this morning. Everything he’s been putting out over the last year has felt like a big ramp up to this official debut. Plus the video for “Señorita” completely rules. Check it out.
The new ASAP Rocky record is awesome. Perfect windows-down summertime record. Check out “Excuse Me” below.
Janet Jackson dropped her first new song in like seven years, and it’s a total slow-burn heater produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis that has an extra “e” in the word “sleep.” LOVE this one. Good to see the gang all back together again too.
In that vein, I’ve also been bumping the new Mariah Carey greatest hits album a bunch over the Spring. They nailed it with the song selection on this one, plus the new bonus song tagged on at the end is actually a total smash hit. Check out “Infinity” below.
BAM! Consider that your country/indie producer/rap/classic R&B mixtape for the week. I’ll leave you with a couple Bonus Baby Pics before calling it a day. Our household has been making an awful lot of doctors visits lately. Crab Man Cam has had a bad fever that just won’t quit, so he’s been in and out of testing the past week. He’s been taking it all like a true champ though, disavowing his old Crab Man ways and actually smiling a ton through the whole process (very possible he’s just totally delirious at this point). Didn’t even cry during yesterday’s blood draw. Love this guy.
And here’s Penny at her recent three year checkup, looking real grown up in the new kids gowns they apparently give you once you turn three.
This summer is definitely all about splashing in as much water as possible. Here’s P at Shady Oak Beach with her grandma, tearing up some cool waves and having a blast.
