It’s time for another edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak and the big news days just keep on coming. It gives me great joy to announce the first full-crew hometown Doomtree show in over 16 months! That’s right, all seven of us will be posted up in St. Paul at the newly renovated Palace Theatre on November 22nd to kick off everyone’s long Thanksgiving weekend. An entire evening of Doomtree. Check this out.
Tickets officially go on sale HERE this Friday at 10am CST, but if you’re reading this right now you can grab secret pre-sale tickets from 10am-10pm tomorrow (Wed, 9/13) just by entering the password “nokings” in the link right HERE. Gonna be a real special one. Can’t wait.
And speaking of special shows (SEGUE!!!), we’ve got a ton of them coming up for you. P.O.S has officially kicked off a four-month Chill, dummy Tour that will keep him on the road until the end of the year. Last night he hit Milwaukee to start things up and will be in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Toledo, Indianapolis, Memphis, and Nashville this coming week before eventually heading west. Check out all the dates of the first leg below and grab your tickets HERE.
Dessa heads out on a string of solo shows this week throughout the Midwest. She’ll be playing sold-out shows in Duluth (Wed) and Minneapolis (Thurs) before heading down to Madison for a free show on Friday and capping things off with a big-time performance at Riot Fest in Chicago on Saturday. Check out all the details right HERE.
BREAKING NEWS: Dessa has just announced a week of new dates in the Midwest and East Coast this November. She’ll be hitting NYC, Philly, DC, Boston, Ann Arbor, and Chicago from 11/8-11/5. Grab all the details and ticket info right HERE.
If you happen to be nearby the Twin Cities this Thursday and have found yourself without those sold-out Dessa tickets, come on down to the Amsterdam in St. Paul for another Doomtree-curated Red Bull Sound Select event. This time around we’re bringing out the legendary Shabazz Palaces and filling the bill out with Kill The Vultures, Porter Ray, and MMYYKK, Trelly-Mo, and Proper-T of ZULUZULUU. This bill is a total dream come true, some of the most innovative and talented artists that I can think of in current music today. Make sure you RSVP right HERE to get into the show for only $5. See you down there!
And now for a quick Awesome Show Recap. Last Saturday marked the very first Shredders show of all time, and boy was it a doozy. We kicked things off that week by announcing our brand new full-length project Dangerous Jumps (11/3 on Doomtree Records – more on that in a little bit), and quickly celebrated with a pizza party. We hit the Go 95 studios to talk with the one and only Mr. Peter Parker about everything Shredders. The next two days were a complete and total blur of rehearsals, music videos, press shots, interviews, studio sessions, and meetings. Pretty much an entire album’s worth of marketing and rollout covered in a 72 hour window. Totally worth it though, and it felt awesome to get back in the lab with Paper Tiger and crank out six brand new Shredders beats. SICK TRIM 4 LYFE.
Finally Saturday arrived and we rolled up to the Cabooze outdoor stage to knock out our first soundcheck.
Only three practices in, but I’m really excited about the new setup. Stef and Sims are getting a lot more experimental with vocal processing and Paper and myself have added a ton of new sequencers and drum machines to the fold. Gives us a lot more to play with and manipulate live. Enormous thanks to Stophouse and Prof for having us out and taking a chance on a new group. Such a great night.
With that being said, Shredders has a brand new single out called “Flipping Cars” and it is another total heat knocker. Check it out below and please help us share it with the world. This was the first track we made as a group and it definitely set the tone for the whole project.
And if you haven’t already, make sure you get your Dangerous Jumps pre-order in! We’ve got options for all budget ranges, but the Deluxe bundle is pretty insane. You get stickers, temporary tattoos, fidget spinners, first aid kits, private live stream access, signed albums, super limited flexi 7″s, and a totally custom never-again-being-printed neon screenprinted t-shirt. All for under $50. Go right HERE right now and grab yours. Thank you for the support!
Alright, that does it for Doomtree-related news this week. Time for some quick Bonus Jams to round the post out. Shouts to Prof for sharing my love of ridiculous mainstream pop music and putting me on to Julia Michaels, who recently released an excellent debut EP. It took me a minute to get over the super dramatic vocal delivery, but I’m all in now. I listened to this EP literally 13 times in a row while putting together a bedframe and it has now embedded itself in my subconscious forever. Highly recommended if you’re into this sort of thing.
Julia Michaels – “Make It Up To You”
Also absolutely loving the new War On Drugs album. I never gave their fist album much of a chance due to the Petty/Dylan vocal delivery, but for some reason this second record is totally blowing my mind. Incredible production and studio magic going on here. Definitely one for road trips and long drives.
The War On Drugs – “Nothing To Find”
I’m a huge fan of the electronic duo Oliver and it looks like they’re gearing up to drop their first full-length shortly. Check out new single “Go With It” below, featuring some guest shine from Chromeo.
Oliver – “Go With It” ft. Chromeo
Really digging the latest Ye Ali project, even though there is a line on here that says “Girl, I bet you taste like Thousand Island.” That is such a gross concept, but still this song is great. A true testament to Ye Ali. Check out “Talk Less” below.

OVO’s Roy Woods is back with another hit. Love this guy. Excited for his upcoming record. Check out “What Are You On?” below.

Also very pumped for the upcoming Kelela album. If this first single is any indication, it’s going to be a total banger. Check out “LMK” below.

A new EARTHGANG EP dropped completely out of the blue a few weeks back! I love this group and they have maybe the best band name of all time. Congrats to them on signing up with J. Cole’s Dreamville label. Excited for more and more people to hear their excellent music. Here’s first track “Meditate” ft. a stellar guest performance from J.I.D.

I’m like this new Action Bronson Blue Chips 7000 project. Love the beats and how short and cut-and-paste everything is. Very fun and enjoyable.
Action Bronson – “The Choreographer”
And I’ll close things out with an excellent new video from Cashinova. Nova is the latest signee to Stophouse and he put on a great show at Prof Outdoors. This song is great and super catchy and I’m excited to hear more. Check out “Finished” below.
Cashinova – “Finished”
BAM! That does it for today’s post. Make sure to check if any Doomtree members are coming through your neck of the woods and grab that Shredders pre-order. I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for another edition of TWL. Go Vikes!!!
