Hooooooooboy! Welcome back to another crazy packed edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak. I just got home last night from another epic Shredders mini tour and I’m afraid I may be permanently hungover from that run. No rest for the weary though. We’re kicking things off with a bang this week. Last month we did a quick pop-up flash sale at the office to help clear out some inventory ahead of summer. We got hit up by so many out-of-towners interested to partake that we decided to extend these blowout prices throughout the entire online world for a little bit. So here it is, the Doomtree Webstore Flash Sale. One week only. Go right HERE for all sorts of insane discounts. $5 CDs, $5 Posters, $10 LPs, $10 Shirts, $15 Hats, $20 Hoodies. OUTRAGEOUS. Help me make a walking path to my desk at the office and beef up your closet at the SAME DAMN TIME. Thank you!
Last Friday the brand new Longshot and Lazerbeak album was released for all the world to hear. Thank you so much to everyone that pre-ordered, streamed, RT’d, shared, or helped spread the word in any way. I really appreciate all the kind things being said and I’m so happy to have this thing out. If you haven’t checked out Parades yet, you can listen on the Soundcloud player below and then support independent art by picking up a CD HERE or downloading a digital copy HERE.
And if you missed it a few weeks back, make sure to check out the music video for “Here For A Reason” below. We’ve got a bunch more visuals on the way. Definitely stay tuned.

Speaking of awesome new videos (SEGUE!!!), Shredders dropped a super tight new lyric video for the Dangerous Jumps deep cut “Calm/Sane” last week. This song ended up being one of my favs on the album, and I can’t thank our good friend Aaron Anderson enough for making this crazy vizual accompaniment. Check it out below and pass it along to a friend.

The final Dangerous Jumps mini tour came to a close this past weekend. We had such an incredible time down south visiting a bunch of all-time great cities that we rarely get a chance to see. Thank you to everyone in Jacksonville, Chapel Hill, Atlanta, and New Orleans for coming out and partying with us. We had so much fun that we barely took any pictures at all (always the sign of a great tour), but here’s a few of us mostly just being idiots. We landed in NOLA to rent the van and #FilaDad was in full effect. Cmon FILA, we gotta talk about this Year Of The Endorsement Deal.
Papes tried his first gator bites and documented the experience while I documented him. Good to have different angles for b-roll.
Our wonderful bud Astronautalis joined us once again in the main support slot and it was a true joy to watch him eat this shrimp poboy from Ramparts. I’ve never seen someone transcend space and time while eating a sandwich before. Once in a lifetime experience.
Sick Trim keeping things color coordinated to an almost uncomfortable level.
It’s recently been brought to my attention that there was a hack on the social media accounts of Sims, Paper Tiger, Astronautalis, and P.O.S in regards to promoting the new Longshot and Lazerbeak Parades album. We here at Doomtree take these matters extremely serious and have diligently launched a full blown investigation. With any luck the culprit will be found and brought to justice shortly.
Drinking drinks named after Drake songs in Jacksonville. The Nice For What Negroni was a definite highlight.
Probably the greatest picture of all time. Blues Brothers 3000 coming soon.
And it’s still no kings.
Extra special shouts to the city of New Orleans which easily maintained its Greatest City In America standing on my personal list. We most definitely let the good times roll.
So now it’s time to get back in the studio and crank some new Shredders songs out. We’ll still be playing a handful of festivals, block parties, and one-offs over the summer, but for the most part the goal is to get cracking on a new record. In the meantime, you can catch a couple of P.O.S solo shows over the next two weekends. He’ll be at Rock The Garden in Minneapolis on Saturday the 16 (tix HERE) and the 605 Summer Classic in Sioux Falls on Saturday the 23rd (tix HERE). Doooooooit.
Dessa has returned from her Arts Midwest tour and residency in China. Shouts to Yu Pei for putting this excellent recap video together of the whole run. Check out the whole incredible journey below.
Dessa’s got a few days off now to catch her breath momentarily and then it’s time for the South and East Coast legs of the Chime Tour. The whole band will be hitting Nashville next Tuesday and working their way through those fine regions through the start of July. Check out all the dates below and grab your tickets HERE before they run out.
Tickets for Dessa’s October Orchestra Hall shows officially go on sale to the public this Friday the 15th at 10:00am CST. Dessa will be at the Orchestra Hall box office that morning slanging tickets in person and dishing out hi-fives if you want to grab tix direct from the source. Otherwise you can get them online right HERE. These will go extremely fast so make sure to set your alarms. Oh and if you’re in the Chicago area this coming Monday the 18th (and are 21 or older), you can sit in on a live taping and interview with Dessa at NPR’s Sound Opinions Live from 12:00-1:00pm. Grab a free ticket HERE and make sure to get there early as it will be a first come first serve situation.
Now for some super awesome Cecil Otter news. He’s just dropped an absolutely epic heater on the new project from rap vets Sage Francis and B. Dolan. Check out “Shotgun Golf” from the new Epic Beard Men EP. Such a banger. Check out the entire project right HERE. So good!

And lastly, Surly Brewing’s Summer Of Sound series continues tonight (Tuesday 6/12) with a DJ set from Semisonic and New Standards legend John Munson. Come through, crush some excellent beers and food, and listen to a bunch of music that inspired John’s career. We’re doing this every Tuesday night from 7-10pm at the Beer Hall, and it’s guaranteed to be a blast. FREE.99 and open to all ages. Come through!
Alright, that does it for this post. I’m off to dig myself out of this email cavern, but I hope you all have a great week. See you next Tuesday for an extra special edition of Tuesdays With Lazerbeak. BIG NEWS on the way.
