In case you missed it with the barrage of Valentine’s Day associated music videos dropping last Thursday, here’s Stef’s new one for “Weird Friends (We Don’t Even Live Here)” to start this post out right. I get some serious trip down memory lane 120 Minutes/Marilyn Manson vibez from this one. Check it out:
In big show news, our very own Mike Mictlan is heading out to NYC this week to play with Har Mar Superstar at Knitting Factory on Friday. New York, you do not want to miss these two dudes together on one stage. Click HERE for tickets.
I feel obligated to post the “Bangarang” video now, just in case you weren’t already sold enough on this show.
Bad Time Zoo turned two years old last Friday! Time certainly does fly. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can grab it from Bandcamp, iTunes, or physically on CD/LP at the Doomtree Webstore. Sims on the raps, Beak on the beats. Still super proud of this one. Here’s a few throwback BTZ music videos in honor of hitting the two year mark.
I just returned from the first annual TPC! Family Winter Retreat Weekend. In case it was ever in question, TPC! does in fact still know how to party, as evidenced by the below picture of us cutting a big hole into the frozen lake. This was payback for the icicle that gave me a black eye last week, and revenge never felt so sweet.
Even Penny got into party mode, sitting in a bingo box and modeling the latest No Kings Beanie. Happiest baby.
Best times. I’ve known these guys for over 16 years now, and these cabin retreats are what I look forward to all year long. Gonna try not to get too sappy, so let me just say TPC! 4 LYFE and leave it at that for now. Happy birthday Katie J!
Oh and speaking of family stuff, I just recently did my first ever interview solely on fatherhood (for all you parents and soon to be parents out there). Figured I had to test the waters if I’m gonna get serious about writing this Dad Lyfe book. Welcome Baby Care was nice enough to go super in depth on what it’s been like balancing rap life and stay at home dad life over the last eight months, and how my music making process has changed in that time. There’s even an attempt at some relationship advice. You can read about it right HERE, or click the screenshot below.
OK, that about does it for this week. I’ll leave you with a couple Video Bonus Jams from a few of our hometown guys. I believe these all came out in the last week too. Same with “Weird Friends.” Great week for MN hip hop.
MaLLy and the Sundance Kid – “Winner”
Audio Perm – “Spark One”
Franz Diego – “Spend”
BAM! There you have it. I hope you all have a wonderful week. See you next Tuesday for sure!
